How does it work ? The application uses Machine Learning, which enables improvement of the system thanks to statistical data. In the case of images' recongnition, the Machine learning tool used is the deep learning.

Actually, Deep Learning is similar to a network of artificial neurons inspired by the human brain. The system learns to determine if there is a vegetable in an image before it finds out which vegetable it is. At each step, the wrong answers are eliminated and sent back to the upstream levels to correct the mathematical model.Therefore, when this model is subsequently applied to other cases, it is normally able to recognise a banana without anyone ever having told it or learned the concept of a banana . The more different experiences the system accumulates, the better it will perform.

Once the recognition is done, a list of ingredients is then recorded by the application and sent to other recipe applications such as Marmiton. This is possible thanks to API, Application Programming Interface. API is like an IT solution that allows applications to communicate with each other and exchange services or data with each other. It is in fact a set of functions that facilitate, via a programming language, access to the services of an application.
